The NRL’s customers are mainly libraries and information service centres. In recent years, however, NRL has developed services that also enable private customers to submit requests to the NRL.
In 1999 the NRL was the first library in Finland to implement a user-initiated ILL service.
Universal Borrowing is a requesting and borrowing function shared by the NRL and certain other libraries in Finland that have an integrated library management system called Voyager. The aim is to enable users to initiate requests for NRL material without the assistance or mediation of library staff.
The NRL’s objective is to provide any patron of an academic library with the ability to borrow books directly from NRL.
